Spring Street Historical Museum

Spring Street Historical MuseumHarkening back to Shreveport's early days as a river port, the Spring Street Historical Museum is located downtown in an old bank building that dates to the Civil War-era. On the National Register of Historic Places, the building is set in the heart of the old business district just a few blocks up from the Red River and offers a feel for what "old Shreveport" must have been like. The museum's exhibits rotate often, but invariably focus on the history of the city itself. At times they highlight aspects of Shreveport's early "frontier" character or Civil War past, while at other times the city's social and cultural life take center stage.
