Act 829 of the 2012 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature allows notary applicants who reside in a parish (see list) with a population of less than 40,000 and who have passed the Multiple Choice and Research sections of the notary exam since December 2009 to be provisionally commissioned if they meet all requirements and qualifications.
