STUDENT VOTING BEGINS FOR LOUISIANA'S 2012 PRESIDENTIAL MOCK ELECTION
2013 Louisiana Young Readers' Choice
The Secretary of State's Voter Outreach Division is pleased to announce that it will once again partner with the State Library of Louisiana by providing electronic voting machines for students around the state to cast their vote for their favorite book. The Secretary of State's Office believes that this is an excellent civic and educational opportunity for our youth.
- Voting machines will be available from Wednesday, Jan. 9 2013 to Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013.
- Please submit your request for voting machines NO LATER THAN Dec. 10, 2012.
- Votes for 2013 LYRC must be submitted by Feb. 1, 2013.
To qualify to vote in the Louisiana Young Readers’ Choice Award Program each student:
- must read three or more titles on the list;
- must live in Louisiana;
- must be in grades 3-5 or in grades 6-8 (or equivalent); and
- each student may vote only once and vote for only one book.
To qualify to vote in the Louisiana Teen Readers’ Choice Award Program each student:
- must read two or more titles on the list;
- must live in Louisiana;
- must be in grades 9-12 (or equivalent); and
- each student may vote only once and vote for only one book.
